Wood with an FSC label
What is an FSC label?
Buying a garden shed is great, but you may be wondering about the environmental impact of all that wood use.
At High End Outdoor we only work with producers who use wood with an FSC label. This means that the wood comes from forests that are managed in a responsible and sustainable way. By doing this you contribute to the preservation of healthy forests and help to protect the environment.
An FSC label on wood means that the wood comes from forests that are managed in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Below we will explain this in more detail.
-
Responsible Forest Management : The FSC label indicates that the wood comes from forests where ecological, social and economic aspects are taken into account. This means that the logging is done in a way that protects nature and biodiversity, that local communities are respected and that no damage is done to the forest in the long term.
- Biodiversity Conservation : FSC-labelled forests are managed in a way that takes into account the diversity of plants and animals that live there. For example, attention is paid to the conservation of habitats and the protection of endangered species.
- Workers' and Local Communities' Rights : The FSC label ensures that the rights of people living in and around the forest are respected. This includes fair working conditions and respecting traditional customs of local communities.
-
No Illegal Logging : FSC-certified forests are carefully monitored to ensure that no illegal logging takes place. This helps maintain healthy forests.
- Transparency and Control : The entire wood supply chain, from forest to end product, is controlled and certified according to FSC standards. This ensures transparency and traceability.
- Education and Awareness : FSC also promotes education and awareness about sustainable forest management. This helps spread knowledge and the importance of responsible use of wood.
An FSC label ensures that a product comes from responsibly managed forests and/or is made from recycled materials.
The 3 different FSC labels
- FSC 100% : This label means that the product comes entirely from FSC-certified forests.
- FSC Mix : This label means that the product is made by combining FSC material with recycled and/or controlled material. At least 70% of the materials used are FSC certified or come from recycling.
- FSC Recycled : This label indicates that the product is made from 100% recycled wood or recycled fibers.
Sustainability with an FSC label
In short, when you buy wood with an FSC label, you know that you are contributing to the preservation of healthy forests and that you are making a choice that is good for the environment, local communities and the world in the long term.
